Prior to configuring the scale for use with NCR Silver Pro Restaurant, you must first configure at least one item to be priced by weight in Silver Back Office. If you do not configure an item to be priced by weight, you will not see the configure scales setting on the POS.

When creating items priced by weight, you can also define a tare. Tare refers to the weight deducted from the gross item weight to allow for the weight of the container. When you establish tares, the total price of the product is calculated based on the net weight (gross weight minus tare weight) times the unit price.

To configure an item without variations for use with the scale:
  1. In Silver Back Office, select MENU > CATEGORIES & ITEMS.
  2. Select the category containing the item.
  3. Select the item. The Item Details screen appears.

  1. Under ‘Tax and Pricing,’ select Weight/Measure.
  2. Select Use Scale.
  3. Select the unit measurement from the drop down list.
  4. Type the tare weight.
  5. Type the sales price for the item.
  6. Click Save.
To configure an item with variations for use with the scale:
 
  1. In Silver Back Office, select MENU > CATEGORIES & ITEMS.
  2. Select the category containing the item.
  3. Select the item. The Item Details screen appears.
  4. Click Add a Variation. The Item Variations screen appears.
  5. Select a variation type, such as size, and add the item variations, such as ‘Small,’ ‘Medium,’ and ‘Large.’
  6. Click Done. The system returns to the Extended Item Detail screen.
  7. Under ‘Tax and Pricing,’ select Use variation Size for pricing from the Price drop-down list.
  8. Select Weight/Measure.
  9. Select Use Scale.
  10. Select the unit measurement from the drop down list.
  11. Type the sales price and the tare weight for each item variation
  12. Click Save.
