Heartbleed and NCR Silver Security

You may have heard about the Heartbleed vulnerability that has affected the software that runs most internet websites. We wanted to inform you that the NCR Silver online environments have not been affected and we have taken further steps to secure our network. We’re committed to providing security against this and any attacks on our environment.

What is Heartbleed?

Heartbleed is a vulnerability discovered in the encryption technology used by two-thirds of internet websites. The bug was discovered on April 7^th, you can find more information here:   http://heartbleed.com/ .

What’s the risk?

Even though NCR Silver was unaffected by Heartbleed, we’ve taken steps to further secure our network and safeguard security.

Is there anything I need to do?

There’s no action needed on your part. We recommend that you protect your confidential store information by adhering to best security practices by changing your password every 3 months. Also, we encourage you to review who has access to your store and customer’s information and monitor access as necessary.
