Overview
The following steps will help you set up the tablet, download the POS software and connect your hardware for your NCR Silver Quantum unit.

 Setting up the Tablet

 

  1. Remove the NCR Silver Quantum commerce station and all accessories from your box. Plug in the power cable to the NCR Silver Quantum base. 

  2. Your tablet should already be in the NCR Silver Quantum unit, press the power button located on the top of the quantum device and power the tablet on.

  3. At this point, you will need to turn your NCR Silver Quantum unit on its side to complete the tablet set up process. 

  4. You will be asked to walk through the full tablet set up.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Many of the device security and naming settings are up to your discretion, but pay close attention to the bullets below.
 
DON’TS
  • Do not update your tablet operating system.
  • Do not sign into a google account.
  • Do not sign into a Samsung account.
 
DO’S
  • You must connect to a wireless network (Wi-Fi).
  • You must agree to the tablet EULA presented on screen.
  • Make sure the date and time are accurate.
  • Finish and Install My Knox, which is designed to get you the right POS software.

  1. The Knox setup will automatically download the NCR Silver POS software and add a shortcut for Silver to your tablet’s favorites. 

  2. When the download completes, place Quantum back in the flat, landscape position and press the blue power button on the left side of the base to power it on.

    Note: You will see several POP up windows asking if it is okay for NCR Silver to use your USB Devices. Press "OK" for every window to e sure devices work properly.

  3. In the NCR Silver POS app, select your country of operation, give your device a unique name, enter your NCR Silver back office username and password, then tap LOG IN. Your device will register to your account and sync to  your NCR Silver back office.
     

Note: You have the option to connect NCR Silver Quantum to the internet via an Ethernet cable. For this to work, you will need to disable Wi-Fi in your tablet settings.

 

Setting Up Your Receipt Printer and Cash Drawer

  1. Plug in the receipt printer power cable and connect the receipt printer to the commerce station using the USB cable. 

  2. Locate the drawer kick cable on the bottom of your cash drawer. Connect one end of the cable to the cash drawer and the other to the “DK” port located on the back of the receipt printer. 

  3. Insert a roll of paper into the receipt printer, then turn the printer on by pressing the power switch on its side. 

  4. Log into the NCR Silver application by entering your POS PIN. 

  5. Tap the three lines in the top left corner of the NCR Silver application to open the slide out menu.

  6. From the slide out menu, tap My Hardware > Add Printer > USB Printer then follow the on-screen instructions to connect using the USB cable. USB provides the most stable connection to the commerce station, but other options are available. 

    • You have the option to connect printers via Bluetooth, but USB is the recommended method. 

  7. You can use the additional USB ports on NCR Silver Quantum to connect other accessories such as scales and scanners, then test and set up their connections in the My Hardware section of the Silver POS application.
